Directions to Calanga Beach Resort for Mozambique Accommodation near Xai Xai accommodation and near Macaneta Accommodation

WE ARE SITUATED ABOUT 100 KMS FROM BILENE, BY ROAD (35 KMS AS THE CROW FLIES!)

Directions

1. Travelling with your own vehicle – How to get there NB –

You need a 4 x 4 vehicle (2 x 4 with Diff-lock will get you to the Resort but not to the beach)

• Calanga Beach Resort is situated approximately 200 km’s from the Mozambican Border at Komatipoort.
• At the border a fee for your vehicle of 40 Mets (± R 10) must be paid together with R 17-00  for each passport. Third Party Insurance for every vehicle of R 150-00 and an additional R 80-00 per trailer must also be paid.
• From the border follow the EN 1 toll road to Maputo, with a toll fee of 95 Mets (± R 25-00) and drive approximately 80 km to the main crossing at Matola (New Shop-Rite shopping centre on the left before the crossing).
• Turn left to Maputo at the crossing and follow the toll road for ± 10 km to the EN 1 left turn-off to Xai-Xai, passing the Maputo toll gate with a toll fee of 17.5 Mets (± R 5).
• Turn left to Xai-Xai and follow the EN 1 for approximately 80 km to the Maragra turn-off on the right, passing various small towns. The Maragra turn-off is situated ± 3 km’s before a small town called Manhica (where last minute shopping can be an option.) Otherwise turn right to Maragra’s main gate for ± 5 km’s.
• From the Maragra gate follow a 2 x 4 road for ± 15 km’s and at the left turn-off to Calanga you must engage your 4 x 4 and deflate the tires to 1.2 bar for the last 10 km to the Resort.

2. Travelling without a 4 x 4 vehicle

You will leave your car at Manhica at our safe parking area (high security wall with a 24 hour guard) with a cost of 100 Mets per day (R 25-00 p/day) which you must pay on the day that you collect your vehicle. This money can be paid with the security guard if it is after hours. You will still meet your escort at Laurentina Restaurant in Manhica which will escort you to the parking area and then to the Resort in our game-view 4 x 4 vehicle. You can also request our driver to assist you with last minute shopping for ice, fresh Pao (Portuguese bread) or 6-pack or two of 2M’s (Mozambique beer)

3. Calanga Shuttle Including travelling from the Kruger and Maputo International Airports to Calanga

This shuttle provides 2-way transport from South Africa to your holiday destination at Calanga in Mozambique. We can accommodate groups, up to 16 people.

The shuttle travels to Calanga, Mozambique 2 times a week.   On arriving  in Manhica, Mozambique, you will transfer to our 4 x 4 Game-viewer Cruiser for the last 30 km leg to Calanga Beach Resort.   Departures from RSA on every Tuesdays and Fridays and returns to RSA on Thursdays and Sundays.

Departures from RSA are made from these points:                   

• Rustenburg
• Lanseria Airport
• OR Tambo International
• Pretoria
• Nelspruit

All departures from Mozambique are made from these points:

• Maputo
• Manhica (Laurentina Restaurant)

Departure times will be scheduled accordingly to each booking’s departure point and confirmed timely with you, our customer.

Please ask our reservations office for our travelling arrangements from Kruger International Airport and Maputo International Airport to Calanga in Mozambique. We have a Courtesy Bus available for a maximum of 8 people and we do free pick-ups for groups and fly-in customers

FAQ’s

How many hours do you travel?  Allow at least 2 ½ to 3 hours to travel from the border (Komatipoort) to Manhica (Laurentina Restaurant, the pick-up place for our visitors). From Manhica allow at the most 1 hour to travel to the Resort (even if it is only 35 km’s). We must stop to check-in at the Maragra gate and we must also allow time for the deflating of the vehicle’s tyres.
